Midland FTC Qualifier Recap: Growth, Grit, and Great Lessons Learned

Published on 25 November 2025 at 10:17

This Sunday, our FTC team Shark Bait Ooh-Ha-Ha competed at the Midland FTC Qualifier at Midland High School. It was a full day of teamwork, troubleshooting, and exciting match play. When the final rankings were posted, our team finished 32nd, going 0–5 in our qualification matches.

While the scoreboard didn’t show the results we were hoping for, we’re incredibly proud of how well both the team and the robot performed throughout the event. The competition was especially strong at this qualifier, and many of our matches came down to small margins.

One of our main challenges was the spin on the ball during shots, which affected scoring consistency. This has already given the team new ideas and engineering directions to explore as we work toward improving both control and accuracy.

As always, our students showed outstanding perseverance, creativity, and teamwork — the qualities that truly define success in FIRST Tech Challenge. We’re taking what we learned, making improvements, and preparing for the next opportunity to compete.

Thank you to everyone who watched, supported, and encouraged us along the way. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to build, iterate, and grow.
Go Shark Bait Ooh-Ha-Ha! 🦈⚙️💙
