Sub-Teams

At BeaverTech Robotics, we believe teamwork makes the dream work. Our organization is structured into several sub-teams, each focused on a specific aspect of what it takes to build, program, and compete with a robot — from design and building to strategy, outreach, and media. These sub-teams give every student a chance to contribute based on their interests and strengths, while working closely with others to bring our robot to life.

Each sub-team has its own role, goals, and projects, but we all come together during key phases — like design reviews, build season, and competitions — to combine our efforts into one unified mission. Below, you can explore each sub-team in more detail, learn who leads them, and find out how to get involved.

Why This Matters

  • Specialization: Sub-teams let team members focus on what they’re passionate about — whether it’s welding, wiring, or writing code — and grow expertise in that area.

  • Collaboration: While each sub-team has a unique mission, we frequently collaborate. Designers work with builders; programmers sync with electronics; outreach and media share our story with the community.

  • Leadership and Growth: Students can take on leadership roles within sub-teams, mentoring newer members and guiding projects — a great way to develop responsibility and communication skills.

  • Flexibility: Members are welcome to join more than one sub-team. For example, someone interested in both CAD and strategy can contribute to both.

Sub-Team

What They Do

Fabricate, assemble, and build the robot structure and subsystems.

Design / CAD

Design robot parts, mechanisms, and systems using Onshape or other CAD software.

Write robot code, develop autonomous routines, and program sensors.

Electronics / Electrical

Manage wiring, power distribution, and sensor integration.

Analyze game data, develop match strategies, and scout other teams.

Create promotional content, manage social media, and engage with community and sponsors.

Handle fundraising, sponsorship relationships, and team budget.

Ensure workshop safety, maintain tools, and coordinate meeting logistics.

Our most team-oriented group.  These are the people who most show our overall teamwork and coordination at competition.
